Active 100A establishes the range with a 13.2-inch touchscreen, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, Ford Co-Pilot360™ Assist+, and available Intelligent 4WD. Higher Active configurations add heated front seats, Active Noise Cancellation, a power liftgate, and additional comfort equipment. ST-Line introduces a sportier character with unique exterior details, larger wheels, and athletic cabin treatments while retaining the Explorer® model’s family-oriented layout and 2.3L EcoBoost® powertrain. Tremor® shifts the focus toward off-road travel with standard Intelligent 4WD, increased trail capability, distinctive styling, and available Tremor® Convenience and Ultimate Packages. An available 3.0L EcoBoost® V6 provides a substantial increase in output. ST emphasizes pavement performance with sport-tuned dynamics, aggressive exterior detailing, premium technology, and a standard 3.0L EcoBoost® V6. Platinum takes a more luxurious approach with upgraded upholstery, premium seating, larger available wheels, and available BlueCruise hands-free highway driving.

The standard 2.3L EcoBoost® turbocharged 4-cylinder produces 300 hp and 310 lbs. ft. of torque and pairs with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The available 3.0L twin-turbocharged EcoBoost® V6 raises output to 400 hp and 415 lbs. ft. of torque, also working through a 10-speed automatic. The V6 is standard on ST and available on Tremor®. RWD is standard on many configurations, with Intelligent 4WD available or standard depending on trim.

Independent front and rear suspension gives the Explorer® composed road manners, while Selectable Drive Modes tailor vehicle responses to changing conditions around Davenport and the Quad Cities. Intelligent 4WD, Hill Descent Control™, Side-Wind Stabilization, and Trailer Sway Control expand its capability. Properly equipped, the Explorer® can tow up to 5,000 lbs., providing capacity for boats, campers, and recreational trailers. Tremor® adds off-road-focused chassis hardware, while ST prioritizes sharper on-road responses from its 400-hp V6.

The Explorer® accommodates up to 7 passengers across 3 rows, with second-row captain’s chairs or an available bench seat providing flexibility between easier third-row access and maximum seating capacity. Available PowerFold® third-row seating simplifies transitions between passengers and cargo. Higher trims introduce multicontour Active Motion® front seats, ambient lighting, upgraded upholstery, heated and ventilated seating, and additional premium cabin finishes.

Ford Digital Experience integrates Google Maps, Google Assistant, Google Play, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, SiriusXM® with 360L, and FordPass Connect™.
